Black Man: We Move America Forward

If you are not willing to lose your elected office to protect your community from the scourge of gun violence, the humiliation that is born by inadequate public education, the oppressive crush of medical debt, the violence of discrimination in all its forms, the indignity of unequal wages, the pervasive lack of affordable housing then why are you in office? You represent the people; elected officials should not be the path to building generational wealth. We fail when politicians view their seats as something they are entitled to or something that belongs to them.
This past week Black men elected to office around America have demonstrated to the world that all power resides in the people. These Black men honored the Constitution and their oath. They have, in their own way, worked to move America forward. We saw this in the two brothers, Justin Pearson, Rep. for Memphis, and Justin Jones, Rep. for Nashville, expelled from the Tennessee legislature. Likewise, we saw this in Alvin Bragg, the first prosecutor who dared to charge someone who has held the office of President with the crimes they allegedly committed. Of…
