Black People Lost Value When We Stopped Being Property

On Wednesday, September 23, a grand jury announced there would be no indictment for the murder of Breonna Taylor, save one charge against a former officer of “wanton endangerment” for firing recklessly into a neighbor’s apartment.
The reaction of activist and educator Zellie Imani pretty much sums up why this indictment is nowhere close to the justice that Taylor deserves and why we must continue to declare that Black Lives Matter. In America, it seems that Black lives stopped being valuable when we stopped being property.
