Morant’s most successful professional rival is Instagram.

For the second time in his career, and for the second time in less than a year, a friend going live on the social media app recorded Morant flashing a handgun. They were cruising in a car blasting NBA Youngboy and acting like young men with money. The car seemed stationary. The seats are a blue that is not standard in any of the GMCs or Hondas or Pontiacs I’ve driven in my life; a luxury vehicle, mayhaps. The phone camera panned over to Ja. He was in the passenger seat, vibin’, arms pumping up and down with the beat. Caught up in the moment and the music, he lifted his left hand to show the gun. His friend, who was both driving and recording, quickly put the camera down. A few moments later, the camera arises again with the crew bouncing and enjoying the music.

Ja Morant is our idiot. White people cannot have him.

The Instagram Live only had 100 viewers at the time. But when you are the star player for the scrappiest NBA team, someone from media is always watching. By the next day, the video was over all…
