The recipe to end attacks on diversity programs
On March 20, a tenured professor sued Arizona State University over its required DEI training.
Owen Anderson, who teaches philosophy, religious studies and theology at ASU, claims that the training violates a new state law prohibiting public employers from requiring employees to engage in anything that “blames or judges on the basis of race.”
The professor alleges that the course violates the new law because it teaches about the prevalence and normalization of white supremacy, privilege and racist microaggressions in American society.

The Arizona law that seeks to end diversity, equity and inclusion training isn’t an outlier.
Iowa goes even further. It prohibits anyone from teaching that the U.S. was founded on racist and sexist principles. God forbid we’d confront those issues.
Florida is the worst of them. Its law says that no institution can use state funds for diversity programs. One of its flagship schools, the University of Florida, promptly terminated its diversity, equity and inclusion faculty.
