ANTI-RACISM
Ending Racism is Simple. It’s Just Not Easy
I want your answer to the question used as the subtitle of this article, “How important to you is ending racism?” to determine whether you simply view this article or you actually read this article.
If ending racism is not that important to you, that’s fine. Simply admit that to yourself and stop reading. If, however, ending racism is important to you, I encourage you to read on.
Four simple steps
Before addressing the goal of ending racism, allow me to share four simple steps when addressing any goal.
- Identify the goal (e.g., help reduce and/or eliminate racial injustice in the world)
- Identify why the goal is important to you (e.g., because I believe all people, regardless of race, should be allowed to live life to their fullest potential)
- Identify how important achieving the goal is to you and how much you're willing to do to achieve the goal.
- Begin the process (realizing that goals are not achieved instantly) of working toward that goal, and keep reminding yourself of point number three when you start feeling frustrated at how long the process is taking.
