Experts Say Racism Is a Public Health Crisis

Black people are disproportionately affected by Covid-19. The current crisis has (once again) exposed a long-known connection and link between systems of racism and negative health outcomes. But what about the actual health implications of racism? And though many doctors have long been saying this, it’s worth asking again: Why isn’t police violence — given its racist origins—considered a public health crisis if such violence is the leading cause of death for young Black men between the ages of 25 to 29 in America?
