Juneteenth is about honoring Black liberation and, now more than ever, Black people and allies can all agree that this moment, in particular, feels rife with reasons as to why freedom should be on the brain while also acknowledging the history of enslavement and its lingering effects. Juneteenth is a day to examine the systems that continue to endanger our freedom and serve to oppress, like mass incarceration, police brutality, the criminalization of Blackness, and so on.

Momentum is a blog that captures and reflects the moment we find ourselves in, one where rampant anti-Black racism is leading to violence, trauma, protest, reflection, sorrow, and more. Momentum doesn’t look away when the news cycle shifts.
