I Didn’t See Race Before — and That Makes Me Cringe
We won’t change the world by doing what’s comfortable
“So I’ve decided to choose my battles. Now, if anyone other than my dad calls me Negro, I get offended. I fight subpar service when I am paying, and systemic changes at my workplace and public office. If the security guard tails me at the store, I make sure to speak with management. And when the attorney general doesn’t indict any police officer for the killing of Breonna Taylor and instead assumes that paying their family is enough to replace their child, I march. I protest. I talk about injustice with my non-POC friends.” — Caleb De La Cruz P.
