This is a reminder that no party has a premium on racism.

(Trigger Warning: this post contains a tweet that discusses sexual assault).

Many of us have been shaken by the recent news via a leaked document, that the U.S. Supreme Court is preparing to take on and possibly strike down Roe Vs. Wade, “the landmark 1973 U.S. Supreme Court decision establishing a constitutional right to abortion in the United States. The majority opinion found an absolute right to an abortion during the first trimester of pregnancy.”

Across social media, many are voicing their outrage, disgust, disappointment, and fear over this decision.

One of those whose posts went viral was Actress Amanda Duarte. It went viral, not for its eloquence, not for its accuracy, but for its absolute saturation in racism.

The tweet, now deleted, lead to scores of Twitter users’ commentary. What is mind-blowing to many who follow Amanda is that she has positioned herself as a liberal, how could she say something so blatantly racist?

Momentum is a blog that captures and reflects the moment we find ourselves in, one where rampant anti-Black racism is leading to violence, trauma, protest, reflection, sorrow, and more. Momentum doesn’t look away when the news cycle shifts.
