The Only January 6 Testimonies That Matter
Shaye Freeman Moss and Ruby Freeman, the Black women terrorized over “The Big Lie”, deserve better.

After Rudy Giuliani, an ignorant racist who never deserved the good reputation he has since lit on fire, made a false claim against her, former Georgia election worker Shaye Freeman Moss has seen her life ruined.
Testifying during Tuesday’s Jan. 6 committee hearing along with her mother, Ruby Freeman, Moss described how a racist mob of Donald Trump supporters targeted the two after Giuliani, working at the behest of Trump, spread a lie about their actions on Election Day 2020.
In his false accusations, Giuliani said that Moss handed Freeman a thumb drive “like they were vials of heroin or cocaine.” (Around this same period of time, Giuliani posted a racist video of himself mocking Asians.) Moss said in her testimony that her mother had handed her a ginger mint. Meanwhile, Giuliani is (still) battling allegations of being a fucking drunk.
Describing the threats leveled against her on Facebook Messenger, Moss said, “A lot of threats, wishing death upon me, telling me that I’ll be in jail with my mother and saying things like, ‘Be glad it’s 2020 and not 1920.’”
It was not easy to listen to a Black woman in Georgia explain that in this century, she was threatened with a lynching. All because of Donald Trump and Rudy Giuliani — two glaring examples of how to waste the gift of life. Moss’ testimony only grew more agonizing to hear as she continued.
“It’s turned my life upside down,” Moss explained.
“I no longer give out my business card… I don’t want anyone knowing my name. I don’t go to the grocery store at all. I haven’t been anywhere at all. I’ve gained about 60 pounds. I just don’t do nothing anymore,” she added as she wiped away a tear.
“I second guess everything that I do. It’s affected my life in a major way — in every way. All because of lies.”
Then there were the words of her mom, who used to go by “Lady Ruby,” whose name was invoked in the conspiracy by Trump himself.
