UNLV Tackles Anti-Black Racism
Will more universities expand or follow suit?
“We focus too much on the quantity of diversity, that is the numbers, and not enough on the quality, that is how people maneuver through the space once they enter the space.”
That’s according to Javon Johnson, the director of African American and African Diaspora Programs at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, one of many higher education institutions that are figuring out how to move forward as America comes to terms with her racial awakening. UNLV has created an Anti-Black racism task force, covered in detail by KNPR.org, the city’s local NPR station.
