We’re all in this together… now. But some of us are still grappling with the resentment that comes from the memories of explaining the Black Lives Matter slogan, or as Shaquille Heath writes, dealing with microaggressions, comments about “nappy hair,” moments when we weren’t heard, or worse, when the realities of racism were denied. “It’s hard to grapple with the fact that white people have actively had the choice to tune out racism,” Heath notes. “They haven’t had to pay attention. Until right now.”
