Why a Jewish Man Still Fights for Black People
For years, Jews and non-Jews alike have asked me why I, as a Jewish man, spend so much energy fighting racial injustice perpetrated against Black people.
“They don’t support us,” skeptics typically argue. “So why do you invest so heavily in them?”
“Look at BLM, which has for years called for a boycott of Israel,” others say.
“What about Ilhan Omar and Cori Bush?” someone else will bring up. Or Shaun King?
With the Israel-Hamas war raging, those particular voices in the Black community seem to have gotten louder and harsher when it comes to Israel.
Some Black activists and writers have accused Israel of genocide after 17,000 Palestinians died in Israel’s efforts to eradicate the terror group Hamas in the wake of their massacres and rape of Israelis, all while these activists were largely silent about the hundreds of thousands of Arabs killed in Syria and Yemen. Or the killing and rape in Sudan. Or China’s harvesting of Muslim organs.
