Why Is Mocking Black Women Online A Monetary Tactic?
Degrading Black women shouldn't be profitable.
I recently came across a video on Twitter where an individual describes why he doesn't date Black women. He characterises Black women as “massive,” “aggressive,” and in possession of “masculine traits.” The video, which was posted a few days ago, has gained significant traction and anger from a large number of users. However, it has since been deleted.
This kind of video comes as no surprise. Those who degrade Black women online know what they are doing. The mockery of Black women is a marketing tactic that some use to get attention since they know their discriminatory and charged words will trigger some sort of reaction from the Black community.
It is important to recognise that Black women are always under some scrutiny for their skin tone. Scrutiny serves the purpose of antagonising us to spark a reaction and feed the stereotypes perpetuated against our existence.
