The moment we’ve all been waiting for
Up to Speed is a biweekly newsletter brought to you by Momentum, a Medium blog dedicated to the fight against anti-Black racism. Did a friend forward this your way? Sign up here so you don’t miss the next one.
Hey Momentum readers,
It’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for: The chance to say goodbye to the hectic, harrowing year that was 2020. We entered the new decade with high hopes; sadly, those Roaring ’20s references didn’t quite track on our IG posts the way we hoped.

On behalf of the Momentum editorial team, we thank you for learning, expressing your pain, and sharing your hope with us this year. We plan on being a guide and good friend and to get you through the fight against anti-Black racism through 2021 and for years to come.
It’s the holidays, right? Let’s say we close out 2020 with a little celebrity fun! We spoke with Tayshia Adams of The Bachelorette about her journey as the Afro-Latina lead in the George Floyd era. You’ll also want to stay tuned for a fun story from our brothers at LEVEL about how a new Bachelor Nation fan bonded through his DVR with the show’s Black male contestants.

And of course, Santa Claus is coming to town later this month, but where will children find him in our socially distant world? You’ll want to check out our story on how virtual holiday celebrations are making it easier for parents to find Black Santas coming later this week.

P.S. Team Momentum is taking some time to rest and relax through the holidays. We’ll be back in your inboxes in the new year!
More stories to keep in the conversation
We honor the Black women of the Montgomery Bus Boycott that happened 65 years ago — it’s important to remember that Rosa Parks didn’t take action alone. Writer Keith Nelson Jr. explores gaming’s racism issues in an interview with an esports star. Amy Shearn writes about a new wig line that offers a host of options for Black cancer survivors. And for our Netflix lovers, we take a look at Missy’s character on Big Mouth, whose storyline leads her to embrace her biracial heritage.
